New melee features

Sledgehammer Games have confirmed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will provide players with "new melee mechanics." As you probably already know, melee attacks in Call of Duty have always been limited to knifing, an act that can be carried out by clumsily smashing the thumb stick on your controller.

However, it now looks as if all of that is about to change, as Sledgehammer Games look set to make their mark on the series by trying new out things and introducing new features.

The revelation came from Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, who was talking about how "pure" next-gen development gave the new studio more room for experimentation:
That lead to things like us adding some of the first new mechanics and core gameplay in the franchise in a long time – things like boost jump, and EXO strength, and new melee mechanics which we’ve also had time to test with our players to make sure that they resonate and will create a compelling and balanced gameplay.

Quickscoping in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

The question: Will there be quickscoping in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?

If you've invested any time into the series over the past couple of years, you'll undoubtedly know that this is one of those questions that repeatedly pops up during the build up to a new Call of Duty release. Unfortunately, whenever the subject is brought up, the discussion tends to devolve into a crapfest of incessant bickering and childish insults, with gamers grabbing each other by the throat and flinging their handbags at one another. Me? I'd like to try and keep things a bit more civilized.
